Sarahí was born in Caracas, Venezuela where she started her own clothing business making all types of clothing, specializing in uniforms. She came to the United States in July of 2016.
Elio Mendez is the culmination of 10 years of tailoring, dressmaking, custom clothing creation and fashion experience. Sarahí has spent years cultivating the skills and expertise to create and customize all types of clothing and costumes. After moving to the United States, she initially worked at two bridal and custom-garment shops in Orlando before accepting a full-time position at Universal Studios helping to make costumes and working on other special projects. In June, 2020, she moved to Tallahassee with her husband, a resident physician, where she worked making industrial fabric coverings for awnings and other special projects. In June 2021, she and her husband moved to Long Island, NY, where she was hired at GiGi New York as a pattern maker.
